Overview
Celebrate the 2021 trailwork making the previously "impassable" Big Sur Trail now "passable" .
Attractions are riparian canyons, ridgetops with coastal and inland views, creeks.
Camps
Variety of camps (and use camps) along trail. Dispersed camping also possible. For water information check individual camp descriptions on
interactive map.
Access
Big Sur Station at western end has
(paid) large parking lot and toilets. Parking at Big Sur Station parking lot is $10/day.
Route Alternatives
•
Alternative lollipop-loop route: Enter/exit loop section via
Boronda Trail
•
Alternative non-lollipop-route: Continue to north end of North Coast Ridge Road, but then requires 2 mile walk alongside Route 1 to return to start.
Notes
• Big Sur River can be impassable after heavy winter rains.
